STORY CORNER: THE BACKSTABBER (A POEM)

Backstabber - A Poem

You pretend to be nice

And smile in my face.

You act like you’re accommodating,

Tolerant and full of grace.

You laugh at my jokes

And give me a hug.

You believe me naïve

And think I’m a mug.

You are waving your knife,

Waiting eagerly to attack.

You want to embrace me

Then stab me in the back.

But you won’t get the chance

To hurt me that way.

I’m wise to your schemes

So I’ll keep you at bay.

I’m stronger than you think,

Intuitive and smarter too.

I’ll purge you from my life

And continue without you.
